ill.farm100.jpgIt's a big "if," but if local farmers were able to get their corn and soybeans planted on schedule this spring, and if they did not suffer from flooding or too much rain that can kill a young crop, these farmers stand to have one of their best years ever.

The town of Clarksville, which lies right smack on the Mississippi River, has been the site of an incredible rescue operation as residents, National Guard, high-schoolers and other volunteers fill and stack sandbags.

leopard100milk.jpgOne of the St. Louis Zoo's newest attractions is also among its most rare. Sofiya, an Amur leopard born May 10, was introduced to the public late last week. Sofiya is one of an estimated 300 Amur leopards living in captivity worldwide. (Fewer than 40 are believed to live in the wild.)
