Have you seen, purchased, sold, or lived in a FEMA trailer?
After hurricanes Katrina and Rita blew through parts of Florida, Louisiana and Texas, almost 120,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency trailers were sent to displaced Gulf Coast residents. After a while, people who lived in some of those trailers reported health problems and suspected the high formaldehyde content of the trailers' particleboard walls as the cause. These trailers are now being resold on the open market. The Lens, in collaboration with St. Louis Beacon, the Miami Herald, and California Watch and researchers from the University of Oxford, is interested in the experiences of the people who lived in these trailers, the housing market for these trailers and the places that they've ended up. Many of the newly elected members of the U.S. House and Senate, including those backed by the Tea Party, were highly critical of the way that Congress works, and vowed to "fix things" if they were elected. We've heard this before, but many new members of Congress often lose their zeal of reform after they arrive in Washington and run up against substantial barriers to change.

Arguments against deportation revolve around these statements: "They work hard for their families and are generally good people trying to better their lives"; "they do pay taxes if they get a paycheck or own a car or shop in stores"; "they take jobs Americans would not take such as farm work, nanny and housekeeping jobs"; "they provide "cheap" items for us to buy because they provide cheap labor" and "they would become citizens if the path to citizenship was more streamlined".
