Updated 9:45 a.m. Mon., 01.18.10 - Down the street from Central Reform Congregation in the Central West End is the new home of "Next Dor," a program that aims to bring together Jewish St. Louisans in their 20s and 30s. The newly renovated house, occupied by a 25-year-old Washington University grad (pictured), is the hub where meetings, dinners, social events and games of "The Beatles: Rock Band" take place. The house recently held a fundraiser for Haiti earthquake victims. |
Welcome to ‘The Feed.’ In this space, I’ll be
writing about issues that are important to people in the
much-sought-after 18-to-35 demographic. Look for coverage of a wide
range of topics – housing, jobs, politics, health care, the
environment, community service, technology, education. There will be
plenty of original content, as well as links to timely studies and
articles published elsewhere.

The Beacon's nationally recognized Barroom Conversations program on race, class and other issues that divide will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at 7:30 PM discussing Education and Class. RSVP on Facebook and invite your friends! We'll pick up where we left off at Six Row Brewing Co., 3690 Forest Park Avenue at Spring. We look forward to seeing you again!

The St. Louis Beacon rang in 2012 with a concert performance of Gilbert & Sullivan's beloved operetta, "The Mikado," at the Sheldon Concert Hall, and the Higher Education Channel was on hand to record it. Here is a link to the complete perfomance, which we hope you'll enjoy.
The musical direction of "The Mikado" was by Amy Kaiser; Craig Terry was conductor-accompanist. All proceeds from ticket sales benefitted the Beacon.
