Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell will be the keynote speaker at this year's Jefferson Jackson dinner to be held at 7 p.m., Fri., March 19 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel downtown.

Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director Brian Zuzenak said in a statement: "We are grateful that Gov. Rendell has agreed to come to Missouri for the annual Jefferson Jackson dinner. Gov. Rendell is a national leader in the Democratic Party, and his work to strengthen Pennsylvania's economy, education system and environment shows the results that Democratic leadership can bring to states like Pennsylvania and Missouri. There is no doubt that he will be able to help energize the party faithful and strengthen the Democratic cause in Missouri for 2010."

Missouri's state Democratic leaders will also be in attendance, including Gov. Jay Nixon, Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, state Auditor Susan Montee, state Treasurer Clint Zweifel and Attorney General Chris Koster.

'The Road Show' improv

Brent Jones | St. Louis Beacon

This Saturday was the debut of a new show by The Improv Shop that will bring out of town improv teams to St. Louis to play for — and with — a local audience. The Road Show brought teams "Everybody Grok" and "Felt" from Chicago.

We talked to Eric Christensen, producer of the Road Show and member of local improv team "Ted Dangerous"; Katie Nunn, member of "Ted Dangerous" and improv coach; and Melanie Penn and Ranjan Khan, members of local teams "Melanj" and "Magic Ratio"; about the St. Louis improv scene and why it's important to welcome teams from other cities to perform here.
