Greetings

I can't tell you how pleased I am that Cinema St Louis is putting together a coordinated, multi-faceted blog for St Louis cinephiles. I've been blogging on film (http:// filmwalrus.blogspot.com/) from St. Louis since running a film club at WashU and always lamented that there is not that much local representation in the blogosphere. From the posts I've scanned so far we've got a shared love for FilmBrain and Bordwell and, of course, a passion for SLIFF. I'll be keeping an eye on the Lens and wishing you all the warmest of welcomes.

I live not far from downtown so I'm sure I'll see you around at CSL events. It was nice to meet you, Cliff, back at Chelsea Girls and the recent Godard double-feature.

We are all together

Welcome aboard, Filmwalrus (aka Brian). We're still in our shakedown-cruise phase, but the Lens is beginning to pick up speed, fueled by the prolific Robert Hunt. I'm hopeful that more contributors will be joining the blog in the next few weeks, and we encourage readers to sign up and send feedback.

About the Lens

Cinema St. Louis' The Lens is a multi-contributor blog aimed primarily - but by no means exclusively - at local cinephiles. The Lens will have a specifically St. Louis perspective when relevant - and will preview Cinema St. Louis events - but because film encompasses the world, the blog will offer material on every aspect of movie culture, with no ties to a particular place. Lens contributors - critics, academics, journalists, novelists, poets, essayists and filmmakers - will write, at any length and in any form, about all film-related topics, allowing for a wide array of approaches: simple reviews, stray thoughts, essays, reported articles, cartoons, photos, even audio clips and videos.

For a more complete introduction to The Lens, read the inaugural post by Cliff Froehlich.
