Congressional candidates in 8th District ramp up get-out-the-vote efforts, attack ads
With a low voter turnout expected on June 4, candidates competing in the special election to choose a new member of Congress in Missouri's 8th District are focusing on how best to attract their base voters to the polls. The latest FEC figures show that Republican Jason Smith has raised the most money, while Democrat Steve Hodges has launched the first TV attack ad. Four candidates will be on the ballot, and two others are running independent campaigns.
