By keeping candidates in the race, money helps those politicians push their message longer, and to win more support for it even if that support doesn’t translate into victory. Thus, money moves the agenda.

When those factors are considered, including the tanking economy Obama inherited, Tuesday’s election represents authorization to move in a direction generally consistent with his programs.

What about supporting a real Fix the Debt movement? Stop calling everyone in a high tax bracket “a job creator.” Tell Rove to take his money and donate it to a charity. Religious belief is to be applauded, not worn on your sleeve. Stop pandering.

Our voting system is antique and wide open to election fraud. As secretary of state, I will make honest and most trustworthy elections my top priority. It is easy to provide free IDs to people who lack a driver’s license.
