On Movies: 'Man of Steel' achieves lift-off but rarely soars

This latest reboot of the Superman franchise is moderately entertaining, especially when it focuses on Superman's origins on Krypton and his struggle to come to grips with his identity. But the movie is weighed down by its special effects, and the seemingly endless final confrontation quickly becomes tiresome.

Teacher-prep programs get poor grades in new survey

Farewell to Duff's from one who knew it well

Can Facebook and romance mix? Study suggests hazards

Recent research out of Mizzou suggests that excessive use of Facebook can have negative effects on romantic relationships, including cheating, breaking up and divorce. Bosley right to put child first - but not to ask others to pay

Asking for contributions for a child’s college education is legal in Missouri. But not right. Because a parent should help his or her children in almost any way they can,  such obligations must be kept far away from a politician’s public responsibilities — it is not hard to figure out which one would lose if they conflicted.
