National small business conference for veterans will be held in St. Louis
A national conference, designed to help veterans establish or expand small businesses, will be held at America’s Center Aug. 6-8.
Department of Veterans Affairs Assistant Secretary Tommy Sowers, a native of Rolla, Mo., made the announcement Friday afternoon at a press conference with Mayor Francis Slay.
The conference, which is expected to draw thousands of veterans, business owners, contractors, private sector leaders and federal employees, offers tips and instructions for veterans who already own businesses or want to start them. There will be classes and more than 200 breakout sessions, plus information on how to procure government contracts.
The VA estimates that 3.6 million small businesses in the United States are owned by veterans or disabled veterans.
Last year’s conference in Detroit had more than 3,500 attendees, according to the VA.
