Gala and auction to raise funds for St. Louis literacy programs
Love to read? Want to help others learn to love reading as well? Consider taking part in two great fundraisers being put on by the St. Louis County Library Foundation to raise funds for early literacy programs.
The first is an online auction, featuring a travel package to New York to attend “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen (the St. Louisan who has brought the world the Real Housewives shows, among others). According to a press release, the winner of the auction will receive two round trip airline vouchers to New York City and two tickets to the show. The auction is currently live on eBay, and can be found through this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320976814218. Bidding starts at $1,500.
The foundation is also hosting its annual Starcatchers Gala on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindburgh Blvd. The event begins at 6 p.m. and features a cocktail reception, seated dinner, live auction and an appearance by bestselling suspense author Laura Lippman.
Tickets for the gala are $200 a person. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Jim Bogart at 314-994-3300.
