'Dreamgirls' connected generations at Normandy High School
Racial, socio-economic, religious and generational lines were erased when alumni of Normandy High School came together to make possible a three-department production of Dreamgirls in 2011. In this short, Fine Arts Director Duane Foster, talks about how a group of alumni, led by Wayne Brasler (class of 1958), surprised him and moved students by donating $3,000 to make the production possible. Students talk about how much it meant that the alumni believed in them and saw their potential.
Produced by Cordell Whitlock for HEC-TV as part of the 7 Nights in July project by the St. Louis Beacon.
