Lift for Life Academy
Local photographer Marian Brickner, best known for her children’s book “I’m Lucy: A Day in the Life of a Young Bonobo,” has turned her attention to photographing cats. Her new exhibit, “Cats Being Cats Being Cats,” will be featured at the City Studio Dance Center from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24.
Twenty five different cats, belonging to area families, are featured. Donations made at the door will benefit Lift for Life Academy Middle School and High School. After the 24th, the exhibition will be open by appointment only.
Brickner, who is in her mid-70s, came to photography late in life, but has spent about the last two decades working at the hobby.
“I think older women can really do stuff,” she said in an interview with the Beacon about her book on bonobos.
