Lupus WolfRide GranFondo
The Lupus Foundation of America’s Heartland Chapter expects to bring together 200 cyclists for its Lupus WolfRide GranFondo on Aug. 4. The long-distance bike ride aims to raise awareness and money for the fight against Lupus.
Participants will start and finish at the Bolm-Schuhkraft Park in Columbia, Ill. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and the ride will begin at 8 a.m. Billed as a non-competitive race, the ride offers cyclists two options: 56 miles or 112 miles, with rest stops every 10 miles. The day will end with a pasta dinner from Joe Bacardi’s Ristorante for all participants.
The Lupus Foundation of America provides programming, education and advocacy that focus on improving the quality of life for the more than 1.5 million Americans with lupus. Last year’s Lupus WolfRide GranFondo raised nearly $30,000.
Registration for this year’s ride costs $45 with a minimum $50 pledge. The organization also encourages participants to raise additional funds and to reach an individual goal of $500. To register for the Lupus WolfRide GranFondo, go to www.LFAHeartland.org
