As the weather cools, the Muny wraps up 'Aladdin'
It is almost a rite of passage for Disney films to enter the world of adaptation and pop out as a musical—a sign that a film has "made it" into the canon of classic family material, a la "Lion King" or "Mary Poppins" (with a notable exception for "Spider-Man").

"Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Adventure" is not quite to Broadway yet, as it plays at Disneyland. But with original music from the film by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, as well as songs that did not make the final cut of the film, the musical brings a definite taste of Broadway to the Muny.
The musical is family fare, with the familiar Disney coming-of-age battle between good and evil for the heart of a princess and a lineup of songs that will likely ring familiar in any child's ear.
Tickets can be purchased through the Muny's website.
Also this weekend, "The Fox on the Fairway" finishes its two-week run, Rockwood School Districts' community theater production of "Annie" opens a year before its Broadway revival and the Creative Exchange Lab shows documentary "The Cove" as part of its series of thought-provoking, environmentally conscious films.
