St. Louis Democratic candidates for city treasurer to appear at forum this week
St. Louis residents can get a first look at all four Democrats running for city treasurer at a forum Thursday evening at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1444 S. Compton.

The event, which begins at 7:30 p.m., appears to be the first major joint appearance of the contenders: St. Louis Aldermen Alfred J. "Fred" Wessels, Jr. and Jeffrey Boyd, state Rep. Tishaura O. Jones and city Democratic Party chairman Brian Wahby.
The four will compete in the August primary for the post now held by fellow Democrat Larry Williams since 1981. Beset by controversies, Williams has opted against filing for re-election.
The city’s 6th and 7th Ward Democratic organizations and the 8th Ward committeewoman are hosting the event. The St. Louis area League of Women Voters is to oversee the question-answer session.
Radio station WGNU 920 AM will broadcast the event live.
